Earn Your Turns!

Access some of the nation’s oldest ski terrain with backcountry ski equipment and techniques. “skinning” up the trail, then descending down a variety of routes will give you a new appreciation for ski skills and give you access to trails and glades you wish you could ride a lift to!

We guide in a number of areas in the White Mountains of New Hampshire that have classic backcountry ski terrain. This ranges from the incredibly steep eastern slope of Mt. Washington to the moderate trails at lower elevation, along with glade terrain throughout the north country. A number of options follow classic ski trails that were cut back in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Core that still offer great runs. The majority of the terrain that we typically guide is intermediate to expert but we are willing to ski and guide on almost any terrain including classic backcountry traverses and a few select 3000-4000 foot summits.

Tours are rated moderate, more difficult, most difficult. The true difficulty of each tour will also be a combination of weather conditions, your physical conditioning and your ability to ski a variable snowpack.

We mostly guide on alpine touring (AT) gear but can also use telemark or splitboard gear if appropriate for the conditions. We can provide beacons, probes, shovels, axes and crampons for  programs and can arrange to help with rental ski gear. (Unlike other gear, skis, poles and boot rentals will be an additional charge.)

If you are a skier looking to break out of the ski area boundaries and wanting a little guidance or just need some solid company in the backcountry IMCS can help you out!
