Backcountry Skiing

Learn to read the winter story of the backcountry. During this three day (24 hours of total instruction) course, students will develop an understanding and application of tools to help navigate or avoid avalanches. Curriculum includes how to safely prepare for a backcountry trip, movement in avalanche terrain, and human dynamics.

Avalanche Rescue is for everyone, whether you are just learning how to use your transceiver, an aspiring professional, or a backcountry traveler with many years of backcountry experience. This one-day course is a place to both learn new skills and keep your existing skills sharp. Avalanche Rescue is a prerequisite for the Recreational Level 2 Avalanche Course.
