Join us for a day of ice climbing in the Mount Washington Valley!

Are you curious about ice climbing, or want to get back into the sport? This group class is for novice / beginner ice climbers (ages 13 and above). No experience necessary! All equipment is included.

In a group setting, you’ll learn the safety basics of the climbing system, including how to belay, and tie in. You’ll learn how to use technical crampons, how to use ice axes, and effective movement on vertical ice. Kids under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Equipment:

IMCS Provides all technical climbing equipment:

  • harness
  • helmet
  • crampons
  • ice axes

You Provide:

  • Base Layers – Light to mid-weight synthetics, tight fitting and close to skin, tops and bottoms.
  • Mid Layer- Light-weight fleece or heavy-weight wicking layer. Power-Stretch and micro-fleece are ideal.
  • Wool/Synthetic Socks (no cotton!)
  • Balaclava- Fleece or wool is preferable, leave the neoprene for the face mask.
  • Face mask / buff
  • Lunch/Snacks- Ideally high protein, surgery snacks
  • Water
  • Tight fitting Synthetic hat – One that will fit under a helmet.

Bring your own, or available to rent:

  • Waterproof/breathable pants and jacket, jacket with full waterproof/breathable hood, full side zip pants are helpful.
  • Over-It-All: “Puffy or Belay Coat” (Hooded, Down or Prima-Loft Jacket)
  • Gloves: 1 pair ski/ice climbing gloves, 1 pair of Mittens. Waterproof/breathable is ideal.
