Self-rescue requires the very highest level of technical skills, so it is important that you enter this course with a strong understanding of the fundamental climbing systems. In this course, we strive to provide a working knowledge of a range of skills.

The Recreational Level One Avalanche Course introduces backcountry climbers, skiers, and snowboarders ways to ritualize planning, observations and assessments, and highlights the critical importance of “Reading the Story of Winter” each and every day to minimize risk when traveling in the mountains.

This one-day course is a place to both learn new skills and keep your existing skills sharp. Avalanche Rescue is a prerequisite for the Recreational Level 2 Avalanche Course.
